Education Week: 49 Applicants Win i3 Grants

via Education Week: 49 Applicants Win i3 Grants.

This is an interesting article and worth the read.  It also raises some important questions regarding the what , where , when, why and how of grant and award distribution from the federal government.

Although I support schools that innovate and push themselves to the next level, I am not on board with some of the competition between programs.  One main complaint in education is that a huge disparity exists among campuses, districts and even states with regards to the quality of education offered to students.

In this case, the 4 winners were all high profile institutions with resources, etc.  What happens to the “little guy” or the schools and districts without the ability the innovate on the same level?  Aren’t the entitled to and in more need of assistance and additional funding?

I would love to hear from you!
